Why You Should Drop Everything & Join Lots of Facebook Groups

Community has always been one of my highest priorities, both on and offline. In fact, I created an happiness blog a few years ago for the main reason of connecting with other like-minded people. Blogging was a great introduction into the online world for me and eventually lead me to Instagram. I am the first person to say how much Instagram rocks and I eagerly post there every day, but I recently started realizing that a true sense of online community was still missing for me.

With most online communities, my blog and Instagram included, it always started with ME posting. I loved how people could comment on my content and that I could go to their pages to comment on theirs, but  I didn't feel a direct connection.

Then I found private Facebook groups…

Facebook groups have changed the way I interact with others online and helped me truly connect with like-minded people. In fact, the only reason why I'm able to guest post on Rachel's amazing blog is because we met through a Facebook group!

Here are a few benefits I've received from joining Facebook groups:

- I've made great friends both locally and around the world

- I've received endless amounts advice on everything from what essential oils to use for headaches to what creative business podcasts to listen to

- I've asked for feedback on many business-related topics including having them help me pick a new business name

- I've filled my newsfeed with topics that I truly care about instead of random topics that my Facebook friends fill my feed with

In a nutshell, I've gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from people who I've never met before, but truly trust because I've built relationships with them in these groups. When I used to have questions about something, I would either rely on a friend who might or might not know the answer or turn to Google. Now I have people in these Facebook communities who jump at the chance to help each other out. Of course, it is key to GIVE in these groups as well as receive, so I try to answer questions and provide feedback as much as I can.

I'm in over 100 Facebook groups, but am truly active in probably 20 of them. Here are my top 5 favorite private Facebook groups for creatives, bloggers and business owners:
